IT Contract Houses and the SMB technology consultant [SMB Consulting Best Practices book excerpt]

Good Sunday Morning to you mates! I am Harrybbbb, the author for the above titled book and I like to hold daily virtual book readings. This is my passage for today.

Contract houses

The story is much the same working for contract houses (which are really higher-end temp agencies). You are likely to be placed on longer term and more analytically demanding assignments than the temporary agency offered you. But you’ll still gain important technology consulting experience and the possibility of referrals that are outside the scope of the contract house employment and client services agreement. Granted, these are typically higher-end assignments that start at the upper-medium space and quickly become “enterprise” in nature. But such assignments give you the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of consulting and customer service. These are transferable skills that can be applied to the SMB consulting space.
