Identify and Select Appropriate Hardware and Software [Microsoft Small Business Specialist Primer book excerpt]

Yo gang – I am the publihser of the above title and I like to hold a daily virtual book reading – today we dig deeper into the 70-282 exam criteria.

Identify and Select Appropriate

Hardware and Software for the

Environment

The right computer hardware will enable a business network to run efficiently and function effortlessly. Windows Small Business Server 2003 requires a server and network components equipped to meet the unique requirements of the business and preferred state.

Equally important is the business having the right software tools to resolve those issues that have been identified. You must ensure that the software applications are compatible and were designed and tested on Windows Server 2003 and the respective client operating systems.

There are also considerations about the client hardware, the network cabling, routers, switches, mobile devices, and type of Internet connection. To get the best performance out of the entire network, all components must play together like a well-rehearsed orchestra. Having one component out of tune will affect the performance of the entire opera.

Important: System requirements for Small Business Server 2003 are covered in chapter 5. System requirements for Windows Server 2003 are covered in Chapter 10.
