Small Business Specialists get MS “access and attention” [Microsoft Small Business Specialist Primer book excerpt]

Hello there – I am the publisher of the above title – and each day – I like to hold virtual book readings! I do that but posting up a passage from the book! Today’s topic has a correlation to politics. In politics – ACCESS is everything and this dynamic is no exception for the Microsoft Small Business Specialist (SBSC). Read on!

Access and Attention

During my Fall 2004 worldwide SMB Nation Summit workshop tour, I was allowed to show a sneak preview of the Small Business Specialist Community program to attendees to solicit feedback and conduct a follow-up survey. One of the overwhelming themes, something I discuss later in the chapter, related to small business technology partners feeling left out, ignored, and bereft of meaningful or productive relationships with live people at Microsoft.

This will change under the Small Business Specialist Community program. Microsoft is staffing positions that will serve the Small Business Specialist hand-and-foot! As an example, at Microsoft USA, there are Telephone Partner Account Managers (TPAMs) who make a monthly “buddy call” to every Small Business Specialist just to “check-in.” Impressive!
