Using ISA caching for fast disk access in SBS 2003 [Windows Small Buisness Server 2003 Best Practices book excerpt]

g’day mates – happy Sunday to you!

I am the author of the SBS 2003 best practices book and I like to hold daily book readings. So today – it’s we discuss caching in ISA.

Harry Brelsford, CEO at smb nation

Microsoft Small Business Specialist SBSC, MBA, MCSE, MCT, MCP, CNE, CLSE, CNP

PS – did u know I host a spring conference in the New York City area each spring? Save the date for March 6-8, 2009 and watch “voice meet data” in the SMB space!

Fast Web Access. This is a cool feature in ISA Server that allows for LAN-speed retrieval of frequently accessed Web sites “cached” on the server machine. When you install ISA Server 2000 on SBS 2003 (which I discuss in a moment), you will answer a setup wizard page (Figure 136) whereby you define the disk space allocated to the caching function.

By default, when installing ISA Server 2000, the caching directory selected will NOT be the system drive.
