Affirmation and Affiliation

Membership has its privileges, and being a Small Business Specialist Community member is no exception. First, you have Microsoft’s affirmation that you’ve achieved a significant accomplishment. It’s an honor, not a right, to be a Small Business Specialist Community member. It wasn’t handed to you on a silver platter—you earned it. Take a bow!

Second, the affiliation with Microsoft is invaluable. Whereas the “red meat” media often likes to focus on negative news about the big “M,” this is a case where the media’s version of the truth is inconsistent with the real world. On a global basis, I can attest that people in the SMB space overwhelmingly like Microsoft. It’s not lost on folks that Microsoft started out as a home business with two eager entrepreneurs trying to create opportunity and improve their lots in life. Microsoft went on to be the richest corporation in the history of the world, with worth exceeding other great institutions like organized crime! It’s been the authors’ experience that, rather than

being green with envy about Microsoft, people really respect the software giant. Sounds like someone you’d want to partner with!

IMPORTANT: Thankfully, the Small Business Specialist Community program is available worldwide. Why? Because the affirmation and affiliation message will really play much better overseas on the streets of Mumbai, India, than in the streets of Peoria, Illinois. Wealthy American small business technology consultants stand to gain less than their brethren in developing countries.

Some might view the affirmation discussion in terms of validation. Small business technology consultants who provide services to small businesses need the validation of the Small Business Specialist Community.
