Get Involved—Partner Community

Building

There is another interesting way to interact with the Microsoft Partner ecosystem beyond just the official way. I cite a very successful SBS consultant in Houston, Texas—Tim Loney and his company SOLUTIONS Information Systems (www. solutionsis.com)—as a perfect example of this. Ever the businessman with a deep technical skill set, Tim understands the value of business relationships and the need to meet and greet regularly. It’s what impressed me most about him: his Texas business moxie! Tim has been very active in a third-party trade association, the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners (IAMCP, www. iamcp.org), to improve his business and the small business partner community. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then you might want to mimic Tim’s success and become a player in the Microsoft Partner community. Another prominent SBS partner, Michael Cocanower, from IT Synergy in Phoenix, AZ, has used this same IAMCP strategy with great success.
