Hiya – I am Harry Brelsford, the publisher of the Microsoft Small Business Specialist Primer book at SMB Nation Press and I am having my first cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. Part of that “coffee klatch time” is that I like to hold a virtual book reading. Today’s topic comes from Chapter 2 where we in fact introduce the Microsoft Small Business Specialist Community to you – our beloved community members!

Small Business Specialist
When we published the original edition of this book, myself and Beatrice were delighted that Microsoft had finally provided a partnership opportunity for the little fella. As you will learn in this chapter, Microsoft’s turn toward focusing on small businesses has coalesced into the new Small Business Specialist Community after much evolution. This is a community with three winners:
· You. Benefit from positive affinity and affiliation with the Microsoft Partner Program at a meaningful level.
· Customers. Enjoy the assurance that a small business technology consultant has met certain qualifications to hold the Small Business Specialist community title.
· Microsoft. The big “M” gains a legion of community-minded partners dedicated to the small business space. Microsoft also learns more about the “S” small business space.
Note in this chapter, I’ll use the word “consultant” to generically include true technology consultants, value-added resellers, value-added providers, technology resellers, and even system builders! I will also refer to title holders as Small Business Specialists and the program as the Small Business Specialist Community.
IMPORTANT: For those readers who like to skip the wedding and go straight to the reception (naughty-naughty) you can drop to the end of the chapter and read the Elevator Ride Version section to get a quick overview of the Small Business Specialist community. Then look at the links in the Community Resources section that follows.
