Certification Exam 70-631

The authors all believe the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) application is really cool and brings nothing short of a paradigm shift to how technology can be used in small and medium-sized businesses. For example, SMB Nation uses WSS to manage the documents associated with book and magazine publishing.

The good news is that the WSS product is readily available and easily implemented at customer sites. It can be used immediately and result in instant IT return on investment (ROI) because it’s impact is instant. Documents can be checked-in and checked-out on day one. Version control can be automatically implemented. Schedules, policies and procedures better managed.

More importantly, the WSS “crowd” is a welcome addition to the Small Business Specialist Community because it complements the traditional network infrastructure “crowd.” That is, WSSers can work side-by-side with SBSers satisfying a customer. Or perhaps one person will develop multiple skill sets and be both a WSSer and a SBSer.

Some would argue that WSS is a niche and you will see WSS specialists, such as members of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) join our “community.” Hopefully you get the point so let’s move on to the exam specifics shown in Table 1-2.
